Teaching Tips for Angleplay® Instructors
-Preparation
ALWAYS review the pattern and teaching notes. Don't assume that just because you've taught it before you won't forget something.
Make all copies at least a day in advance.
Take extra templates, rulers and rotary cutter.
Organize your samples, teaching aids and trunk show quilts.
Pack everything in the order you will need it.
Plan your drive so that you will arrive an hour before the class and then add 15 minutes in case something goes wrong. You can always grab a coffee or something if you are too early!
-First Impressions
Arrive 45-60 minutes before the class begins
Be organized before you arrive so that you can efficiently get set up
Greet the person meeting you warmly. Make a positive comment about the facility.
Get the lights turned on, the heat or AC going if needed, take a quick look to make sure the tables and chairs are clean.
Keep your supplies neatly contained in one area, like a table or box. Organize sign in sheets, hand outs, etc. so that they are readily accessible.
Greet students as they come in.
Give early arrivals a task to start on, like ironing fabric or labeling color choices.
Introduce yourself again before starting the class.
Start on time.
Either ask late arrivals to just grab a seat or ask a "helper" to hand them a packet and direct them to their work area.
(Don't stop the class to catch each tardy student up)
-During the Class
Do make an effort to promote the store by highlighting a product, fabric, or the great customer service offered there.
Be sure to warmly greet shoppers who are not in yoru class but are curious about what you are teaching.
Stay on track and keep the class moving.

Celebrate the small victories and accomplishments.
